Our study suggests that this is related to just how much of the medication the person consumed during the past,’ described Dr. Leyton. The more cocaine somebody has used in their lifetime, the more the mind shall secrete dopamine during subsequent cocaine use. ‘It’s possible as a result that the strength of the reward-circuit response is related to increased susceptibility to addiction,’ stated Dr. Leyton. Although the relationship between the intensity of dopamine secretion and the rate of recurrence of drug use has been demonstrated, experts still do not fully understand its mechanism of actions. Is it the repeated stimulation of the prize circuit leading to addiction, or is it an inherent sensitivity to addiction leading to the increased secretion of dopamine? This query is not easy to answer, since other factors enter into play especially, such as other areas of the subject’s personal history.
